Formula
Trip fuel cost = trip distance x fuel economy / 100 x fuel price
- Trip distance is the total kilometres driven.
- Fuel economy is litres per 100 kilometres.
- Cost per traveller divides estimated fuel cost by the number of travellers.
Worked example
For a 1,200 km trip, 8.5 L/100 km fuel economy, $1.65 per litre and 2 travellers, the calculator estimates total fuel cost and cost per person.
